Parables of Jesus are Central Focus
of 2nd Sabbath Weekend

Dr. Johnston Highlights Interpretation of Parables

Dr. Robert G. Johnston, emeritus professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, will be our guest for this coming Friday night and Sabbath. A professor at the Seminary since 1974, Dr. Johnston was also a missionary for 12 years in South Korea and the Philippines. He has degrees from Pacific Union College, Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and the Hartford Seminary. Here's our schedule:
1) Soup Supper & Presentation: Friday, May 12, 6 pm -- Dr. Johnston will share on "Two in the Temple" from Luke 18:9-14 that tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector.
2) Worship Service: Sabbath, May 13, 10:45 am -- Dr. Johnston will preach on "Strange Employer" from Matthew 20:1-16 that tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard.
3) Second Sabbath Potluck -- We'll have a Picnic Potluck in the Pavilion following church. Please bring picnic-style food that doesn't require kitchen prep. The forecast is calling for a gorgeous afternoon. If folks are interested, Dr. Johnston will be available after Potluck to talk more about interpretation and parables.
3) Vespers: Sabbath evening, May 13, 7 pm -- Dr. Johnston will close Sabbath by sharing on "The Attraction of the Crucified One" from John 12:32. 

Men & Boys Campout

Friday Evening-Sunday Morning at Springtown!

ALL men and boys are invited to the 2nd annual Men & Boys Campout on the Springtown campus. Whether you come by yourself or bring a son, grandson or nephew -- please join us for this fun weekend. Here's our schedule:
1) Camp Pitch & Supper: Friday, May 12, 6 pm -- By 6 pm the grounds around the Pavilion will come to life with tents, hammocks, cots & RVs (your choice). We'll enjoy a delicious supper together. WEEKEND FOOD PROVIDED by the church.
2) Campfire Vespers: Friday, May 12, 7:30 pm -- Jay Williams will be doing a great presentations about our Universe. Conditions allowing, we'll do some star gazing afterward. 
3) Sabbath Breakfast -- Campers, we'll enjoy breakfast together!
4) Sabbath School & Church: 9:30 am & 10:45 am -- We'll head back into the church to enjoy our regular Sabbath Schools and Worship with Dr. Johnston. 
5) Sabbath Picnic Potluck: After Church -- The ENTIRE Springtown Family will head out to the Pavilion for a Picnic Potluck. 
6) Afternoon Adventure: Sabbath, 3:30 pm -- Bring your water shoes and a sense of adventure as we head to Flint Creek for some exploring and a scavenger hunt on steroids. It's a guy thing!
7) Sabbath Supper: 6 pm -- No campout is complete without a weenie roast and s'mores. 
8) Sabbath Vespers: 7:30 pm -- Tim Tidwell will help us close out Sabbath around the campfire.
9) Men & Boys Movie -- After sundown a fun movie that Men & Boys will love.
10) Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast: Sunday, 9 am -- EVERYONE is invited back to the Pavilion where the Men & Boys will prepare a pancake breakfast in honor of the Springtown ladies.
WHAT TO BRING: Your sleeping accommodations, personal items, flashlight, comfortable camping clothes, water shoes for Sabbath afternoon, guitar or fireside instrument, lawn chair, your favorite whittling knife, bug spray, and anything else that keeps you comfortable in the great outdoors.
NOT A CAMPER? Guys, if you're not able to stay overnight with us, PLEASE come enjoy the rest of the weekend activities.
A BUSY WEEKEND: We realize that our Campout Vespers conflict with Dr. Johnston's vespers presentations. Guys are welcome to slip in to hear his presentations.

Picnic Potluck on Sabbath

It's an old-fashioned picnic potluck -- easy, fun picnic food that won't take any kitchen prep at the church. It's going to be a gorgeous day on Sabbath. Perfect for a picnic.

Pancakes Honor Moms

Sunday, May 14, 9 am

The Men & Boys Campout will be whipping up a delicious pancake breakfast with trimmings to honor Springtown moms and women. EVERYONE is invited to enjoy a wonderful start to Mother's Day Sunday.

PreK Teacher's Assistant Needed

Ozark Adventist School is seeking applicants for a teacher's assistant for the Pre-kindergarten program. Applicants should demonstrate an aptitude and be comfortable with caring for and teaching small children, ages 35- years of age. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a current AR day care director's license, have experience using Montessori methods, have an early childhood education degree, or hold teaching certificates. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must. Please e-mail all resumes to http://principal.oas@gmail.com. All resumes should be submitted by May 15.

OAS Visitation Day

Friday, May 12, from 9 am-noon, prospective students and their parents are invited to learn more about the school. Students from PreK through 8th grade will have an opportunity to participate in classrooms. Parents can tour the school, interview prospective teachers, and visit with other OAS families. If your child/grandchild attends OAS, don't hesitate to invite other friends and family members to attend.

OAA Spring Concert

Saturday Night, May 13, 7 pm

The Concert Choir, Royalaires, Orchestra, Band & Handbells will have their
year-end concert in the Ozark Adventist Academy gym.
